Raya Restaurant is famous for being one of the premier restaurants in Phuket Town for preserving and serving original Phuket style Thai dishes. Many movie stars, prime ministers, and royalty frequent Raya Restaurant when they are in Phuket.

Restaurant Review: Raya Restaurant in Phuket Town, Thailand (ภาษาไทยในคอมเม้นแรกนะคะ 🇹🇭) Unrenovated, unpretentious and unbelievably good, Raya has been serving southern-Thai fare for more than 20 years. In fact, my father has been one of its early loyal customers and it has been him who suggested that I dined here at least once during the trip. This two-storey Sino-Portuguese institution keeps things authentic and old-worldly with its jade-hued wood doors, original mosaic floors, gramophone, stained glass and shuttered windows. Standout dishes include creamy crab-meat curry with coconut milk and rice noodles and Bai Lieng Pad Kai (Stir-Fried Malindjo Leaves with Egg). The whole dining experience was simply amazing. The cooking was homely but very elegant, with high-quality, fresh-from-the-sea ingredients and acute attention to details. The host told me that the owner, who is now in her 70s, still goes to the market to check out local produce everyday. No wonders her food tastes so amazing! Bold yet balanced. Highly recommended! There are a variety of different Thai dishes on the menu. Everyone agrees that the creamy crab meat curry with rice noodles (Kanom Jeen) is their best specialty. Phuket prawns pack a spicy punch while the braised pork is sinfully sweet and juicy.

Opening Hours: 10am to 10pm
Phone: +66 (0)76 218 155

14) Tu Kab Khao

If you are looking for a local specialties restaurant, you should never miss out Tu Kab Khao. This Thai restaurant in Phuket town serves great southern Thai food and you should try their selection of dishes typical from Phuket. It’s quite easy to spot the restaurant by its unique colonial building that decorates with the idea of Sino – Portuguese style.

Location: 8 Phang Nga Road, Phuket Town (the restaurant with a giant lobster hanging on the side)
Opening Hours: 11 am – 12 midnight
Phone: 076 608 888

One Chun Restaurant is one of the best restaurants on the island which is not only famous among the tourists, as well as the locals. It serves a southern Thai cuisine without compromise, One Chun first succeeded with locals who are not easy to impress when it comes to their food.

This is definitely a restaurant that you will wish to visit again. It is not only serving fantastic food but also the price is at a very reasonable rate. Even the mango sticky rice costs the same as a street hawker.
